The debut of Flamengo's new attacking duo has not yet been confirmed for next Sunday (05.09), but if there was any concern regarding Diogo's clinical condition, due to an ankle injury, it has been practically dismissed. The player should be fit to play for the clash against Santos, the Rubro-Negro's last game at Maracanã before its closure for construction work leading up to the 2014 World Cup.

Diogo participated normally in last Friday's tactical and technical training session led by coach Silas and did not complain about the sprained left ankle. After the session, the forward was re-evaluated by the club's medical department and cleared to be selected by coach Silas. Marcelo Lomba celebrated this.

"They'll be a huge help. They're two great players who excelled in Brazil and Europe. Our attack hasn't been scoring much. They're our hope. Val (Baiano) has been putting in a lot of effort too. Deivid and Diogo are a powerful duo and are a real nuisance to our opponents," he said.

Flamengo and Santos play at 16 p.m. at Maracanã Stadium. This Saturday (September 04.09th), coach Silas will lead the final training session before the match at Ninho do Urubu. The session will be held behind closed doors to the press.
