Striker Diogo is expected to make his debut for Flamengo this Thursday (26.08), at Maracanã. He arrived at the club on Monday (23.08), trained normally on Tuesday (24.08) and Wednesday (25.08), and although he is not yet in the best physical shape, he has everything he needs to start playing in the duel with Atlético Mineiro.

The player doesn't hide his desire to play, but he treats his likely debut with caution and remembers that the decision will be up to coach Rogério Lourenço, with whom he must still speak before the match.

"I surprised myself. I was out for a week because of negotiations, but I felt good. It was difficult, due to the time out, but it's the coach who decides. I'm not in my best shape, but we'll wait. I really want to play. Always. But Rogério will know the best way to use me," said the number 43, who couldn't say how long he'll likely stay on the field if he starts.

"It's difficult to say how long. Depending on the game, you might stay more or less. I don't know if I'll start playing or come on later... It's normal to feel a little tired, but I'll try to play as much as possible to help the team," he said.

Rogério Lourenço briefly analyzed the new signing in a press conference following Wednesday's training session, expressing confidence in the striker's potential. He said that if Diogo feels well, he will start against Galo.

"Diogo has a different characteristic than Adriano, for example. He's very mobile, but at the same time he's physically strong and a great finisher. So the closer he is to the box, the better. But while we're still getting to know him, we have to let him feel comfortable. That way, he'll perform at his best. He worked well yesterday, and he's also in the squad today. He's in the squad, and if he's fit, he'll start," he concluded.
