The long-awaited debut of the duo formed by Diogo and Deivid would have everything to happen in the game against Santos, next Sunday (05.09), at Maracanã. The number 99 has already reported definitively to Rubro-Negro, has been training hard during the week and should be able to play at the weekend. However, Diogo's situation is worrying.

With his ankle very swollen after suffering a blow in the match against Guarani, last Sunday (29.08), he still doesn't know if he will be able to play. In a quick chat with the team at Flamengo's official website, Diogo revealed that the pain is no longer the same, but he explained that he still feels a slight discomfort.

"It hurts a lot less than after the game, but it's still quite swollen. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play against Cruzeiro. I would love to be there and help my teammates," he lamented.

The player, however, is optimistic. He will undergo treatment during the week and hopes to take the field against Santos, in the game that should mark the closing of the Maracanã for construction work leading up to the 2014 World Cup.

"I hope I can play. I'll do everything that's recommended and I hope to be on the field," he added.
