Diogo is not bothered by Flamengo's goal drought
The striker is confident of scoring for the first time in the red and black shirt soon.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inOne of the players who has been demonstrating one of the key characteristics that Flamengo fans value: grit, striker Diogo, despite his strong performances, remains without a goal for Flamengo. He's played eight games and hasn't found the net yet. However, Diogo isn't worried. The striker knows he's been working hard, playing well, and believes the goal will come naturally.
"I'm not worried about the lack of goals, because I'm trying, striving, fighting to score. One day I'll be able to dribble past these individual plays and score a goal," he said.
The number 43 was not at all pleased with the loss to Palmeiras over the weekend, but chose not to criticize the team's performance any further. He defended the coach, explained that there was not enough time to work, and warned that it was time for the group to "close in on itself."
"Our team played a terrible game. We didn't create any chances, we didn't score. We didn't have any chances, we conceded three goals. It's a time when we have to shut ourselves down and look at ourselves and see where we can improve. Silas isn't to blame. We can't train, there's no time for that right now. So everyone needs to look and see where they went wrong," said the striker, who also lamented a penalty that wasn't awarded in Flamengo's favor while the game was still 1-0 Palmeiras.
"We weren't playing well, but we could have tied the game if he had scored the penalty. It was 1-0, it would have stayed 1-1. Then it could have been a different game," he concluded.
