Campinas (SP) - Striker Diogo suffered a sprained left ankle in Sunday's match (August 29.08) against Guarani in Campinas. Flamengo's number 43 suffered a blow and had to be substituted in the first half of the match. Feeling a lot of pain, he received treatment on site and will be re-evaluated by the club's Medical Department before determining whether or not he is fit to play in the next round.

The center forward tried to continue the match, but his efforts gave way to caution, and he asked to be substituted. Midfielder Toró took his place. Diogo explained that the pain was quite bothersome and only subsided when Jean headed in to open the scoring for Flamengo.

\

"I was in pain and there was no point in going in and out all the time. The only thing that eased the pain a little was Jean's goal," he said.

This Monday, Diogo and the rest of the red-and-black squad will report back at 15 p.m. in Gávea. The team's new coach, Silas, will take over, hold a press conference, and is expected to train the team.
