Volta Redonda (RJ) - A negative note in this Thursday's match (07.10), between Flamengo and Atlético Goianiense, for the red-blacks from Rio, was the injury to striker Diogo. The player suffered a blow to his left ankle in the first minutes of the game and had to leave for the entry of Diego Maurício at the beginning of the first half.

Rubro-Negro doctor Walter Martins explained that there is still a chance the player will recover in time for the weekend's match, but we must wait.

"He felt it right at the start of the game. At halftime, the area wasn't swollen and we have good expectations for the next game," he warned.

The striker himself, in a quick chat with the team at Flamengo's official website, explained that he still doesn't know if he will be able to face Avaí.

"It was a blow to my left ankle, right at the start of the game. I tried to stay on the field, but I couldn't. It's still bothering me a little. I'm going to ice it now (yesterday) and tomorrow (today) I'll be re-evaluated to see if I'll be able to travel," he said.

Flamengo returns to training this Friday morning (October 08.10th) at 11 am in Volta Redonda. In the afternoon, the team returns to Rio de Janeiro, from where they will travel to Santa Catarina. The team will train in Florianópolis on Saturday and play against Avaí on Sunday at Ressacada Stadium.
