"Pure determination" is Negueba's weapon at the end of the year.

While most of Flamengo's professional squad players will be on vacation at the end of the year, young Guilherme Negueba, recently promoted to the first team, will not have a break. At 18 years old, he is considered a great prospect by coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, and will be used in Sunday's game (December 05.12th) against Santos, in the last round of the Brasileirão.
So far, so good. But the young attacking midfielder's talent also pleases the under-20 team's coach, Paulo Henrique. Therefore, he was called up to play in the Brazilian Championship for that age group. And his debut is this Monday (December 06.12th), against Guarani, in Rio Grande do Sul. Therefore, the boy will have to be very determined to endure the marathon of games.
"Initially I'm going to Santos, because coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo said he's counting on me for Sunday's game, and from there I'll go to the South. I'll travel right after the game, rest, and meet up with my teammates for the Under-20 Championship. If I'm lucky, I might even play on Monday. You have to be in good shape (laughs)," explained the midfielder.
Promoted to the professional team by Vanderlei Luxemburgo, Negueba emphasizes the importance of having the Flamengo coach closely monitoring him. Happy to be observed by such a qualified coach, he believes he can gain a lot from it.
"It's very good for my career to know that he's following me closely, because it shows that he believes in my potential. Even more so because it's Professor Vanderlei, who is a great coach," he concluded.
Guilherme Ferreira Pinto was born in 1992 and came to Flamengo from futsal. He played for Jacarepaguá and Jequiá before getting his first chance in field football, already at Flamengo, at the age of eight. Since then, he has stood out in the youth ranks and made his debut for Fla on the 7th of last month, against Atlético-PR, in Volta Redonda.
