From Nation to Nation: Fan Membership Program Invests in Party at Maraca
Red and black smoke, Mengão shields, balloons, mosaics and flags embellish the show in the stands

Listed as a Cultural Heritage of Rio de Janeiro in 2017, Flamengo's fans have been, for over 100 years, the club's most valuable asset and the biggest protagonists of the fantastic and unforgettable parties that take place on the steps of Maracanã. Last Sunday (21), the day they won their 35th state title, Flamengo had another show at the Mário Filho stadium, complete with smoke and mosaics, gifts from the Nação Rubro-Negra to the Biggest Fan Base in the World.
Since the 2017 Copa do Brasil, Flamengo's fan membership program has worked to facilitate the celebration in the stands, recapturing the essence and culture of the stands, creating a positive atmosphere in the stadium for fans and players, always striving to enhance and uphold the home-field advantage. The goal is not to take away the central role of the fans—who remain the primary drivers of the spectacle and make everything happen—but rather to enable and sponsor the spectacle, including liaising with the appropriate agencies to authorize the celebration (Fire Department, FERJ, BEPE, and CBF).
"It's crucial for us to promote and encourage the continuation of Flamengo's culture in stadiums and throughout Brazil, not only for those who are part of the fan membership program, but for all the more than 42 million fans who make Flamengo the biggest club in the world. It's very gratifying to see that the red and black smoke and the "crests" have won over the nation," said Maurício Portela, Flamengo's Marketing Director.
