After weeks of intense training, Sunday couldn't have been more red-and-black for Flamengo's players. The three futsal youth teams secured victory and ended the week on a high note.
Flamengo's promising young players put in excellent performances and displayed beautiful plays against the Vassouras teams. The U-8, U-11, and U-13 teams won their matches and got off to a flying start in the State Championship.
The matches were played indoors at Gávea, and the first team to take the court was the U-8 team, at 11 a.m. Numerous one-twos, long-range shots, and dazzling dribbles capped off a 7-0 victory over the Vassouras team. With an attacking approach and excellent marking, the Gávea team secured a stunning victory in the first round of the State Championship.
Flamengo's under-11 team faced a more defensive team and had to rely on speed and precision passing to break through their defense. The first half ended 4-1 to Flamengo, with the red-and-blacks missing numerous goals. Vassouras' comeback began late in the first half and continued into the second, scoring a goal early in the period. However, it wasn't enough to stop the red-and-blacks from winning 4-2.
And to cap off a beautiful afternoon of futsal, the under-13 team didn't hold back, putting all their energy and determination on the court against Vassouras. In a comeback, the red-and-black team secured a 7-3 victory, characterized by greater possession and the creation of numerous scoring opportunities.
