After training on Wednesday (06), Alejandro Donatti, who will wear the number 25 shirt, gave a press conference in the press room at CT George Helal. Among several topics, the Argentine defender commented on why he chose Flamengo, even though he had received so many other offers, in addition to its characteristics and the differences between Brazilian and Argentine football.

See the main excerpts:

Decision to sign with Flamengo

I spoke with Mancuello a few months ago, when the possibility of coming to play here at Flamengo arose. We talked about it until four days ago. I asked him what the club was like, the structure. He told me it was all wonderful, a truly impressive club. I want to step onto the field and give my all. The fans enchant me; they're the biggest in the world. I come here to enjoy this and other beautiful things about Brazilian football.

Differences in Brazilian and Argentine playing styles

I've been following the club's matches. Brazilian football is a little different from Argentine football, but I'm confident I'll adapt well. The games here are faster, with lots of dribbling. In Argentina, we play more slowly, valuing possession more. I'll give my best on the field and help my teammates so we can do well in this championship.

Dispute for starting defense spots

The players here are doing a great job, sacrificing a lot every day. I'm coming to Flamengo to help, to contribute. When it's time to field the team, the coach will definitely choose whoever is in the best form. I want to be fit as soon as possible to compete for one of those starting spots. It's a very close-knit group, and everyone is showing their best. I believe everyone will help the group grow even further.

Search for ideal physical and technical condition

My last match was a few months ago, against Atlético Nacional, still in the Copa Libertadores. I believe I'll be ready to play in the match against Botafogo next week, but it's not certain yet. I'll try to speed up this process as much as possible. I'll try to stay available until then, and then it'll be the coach's decision.

Preferred position in defense

I perform well anywhere in the defensive pairing, whether on the right or left. My characteristic, as everyone has seen in videos, is to leave everything I have on the field. I've always been a goal scorer, too. I like getting into the opposing box. But the main thing is to take care of the defensive side. That's the most important thing for me.
