Flamengo defeated Cruzeiro 2-0 at Mineirão Stadium and reached 72 points in the Brazilian Championship. "Mais Querido" finished runner-up in the national competition, and coach Dorival Júnior analyzed the club's 2018 record.

"It's Flamengo's record points total in the Brazilian Championship. It shows the strength of this group, which gave its all. It's natural that the runner-up spot isn't valued, but internally, we have to value it."

"Flamengo is ready to win. You can wait. Soon we'll see how this work is laying the foundation for future achievements," he added.

Dorival also highlighted the team's fight for the title until the final stretch of the competition and praised the squad he led.

"Palmeiras played a flawless competition. And Flamengo followed suit. That's something to be commended for. The team didn't drop in level and was always very close. Overall, Flamengo did a great job. A vibrant, fighting team. Everything will happen in due time."

"We've always played very consistently. The team has always shown great desire. It didn't end up happening. But we came out with a much stronger team. Flamengo is ready to win titles," concluded the Flamengo coach.
