With the focus entirely on the game against São Paulo, Flamengo continues preparing at Ninho do Urubu. Before training this Thursday (1), coach Dorival Júnior gave a press conference and highlighted the evolution that the team has been showing in each training session and each match.

"I think everything that has been happening and the way Flamengo is behaving in the matches is highly positive. I believe everyone has noticed that we are concerned and working to improve even more. It's a team that is showing evolution, and I'm happy because we need that to have an even better end to the competition."

"We shouldn't see the weekend's result as a setback. We were playing against the league leaders, we had a weak game and we were looking for a goal the whole time. At no point did we give up, and the fans recognized that. I'm satisfied with the progress and the confidence we had on the field. I hope we can continue like this. We have to always strive for the best result, always focusing on the next round. Now it's against São Paulo and we're going to prepare very well," he concluded.

Analyzing the match against the São Paulo team, Dorival Júnior is betting on a high-level game, just like what happened in the first round of the Brazilian Championship.

"It will be another crucial match for Flamengo and another crucial match for São Paulo. It will be a high-level game with unique preparation. We are trying to do our best, and it's natural that it has the same connotation as the first-round match. The teams are close in points, and we have to be very careful. São Paulo is a good team and led the championship for a long time. We need to remain calm to seek a good result."

Difference for the leader

We strongly believe in what we are doing and the work we are doing. We are exclusively focused on our part. I'm not worried about anything other than our future opponent. We need to be at our best when the match starts. I'm satisfied with the football Flamengo has been playing, but we can improve with time. We are making the most of our training sessions.

Rotation in training sessions

If you notice, we make changes in every training session. I want to give everyone playing time, and they've been very important coming on during matches. Diego is a regular starter for the team, everyone knows that. He didn't start in these last few games, but he's fundamental for us and will be in this final stretch. I'm counting on him a lot. He's a great player and he's exceptional.
