Dorival Júnior is the new coach of Flamengo

Flamengo already has a new coach! Dorival Júnior, 60, was previously with Ceará. He signed a contract with the club until December 2022 and will lead the team in the Brazilian Championship, Copa do Brasil, and Libertadores. This will be the coach's third stint with the Gávea club.

During his first stint at the club, Dorival arrived in July 2012 and led the red-and-black team in the Brasileirão, finishing the championship in 11th place. During that time, they recorded 15 wins, 11 draws, and 10 losses.

In September 2018, the coach returned to Flamengo to lead the team in the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship. In 12 matches, Dorival achieved seven wins, three draws, and one loss. At the time, the Rubro-Negro finished second in the national championship.
