Flamengo will face another challenge in the Brazilian Championship this Saturday afternoon (13) and preparations continue steadily at the George Helal Training Center. After the afternoon activities this Thursday (11), coach Dorival Júnior gave a press conference and highlighted the work that has been carried out during this week.
"The training sessions are proving very productive and yielding high results. I hope we can replicate what we're doing in training during the match. It's crucial that we achieve a great result," he said.
"The training sessions have been very good, and motivating the athletes is fundamental, even those who don't end up playing much. It's normal for them to feel left out, but I want to have all the players in a position to compete for the Championship," he added.
"I've watched some games and also followed the work Marcelo has been doing. It will be an important game for both teams. We've had some great matches in the history of this derby. It's a decisive moment in the competition and I hope our team can put on a great performance."
The coach conducted some tactical drills on Field 4 at Ninho do Urubu and also took the opportunity to adjust the team's positioning on set pieces. In addition to Dorival, assistants Lucas Silvestre, Leonardo Porto, and Mauricio Souza provided guidance to the group during training.
Still talking about the derby, Dorival highlighted the importance of playing with the Nation filling the stands at Maracanã.
"It's fundamental and decisive. Flamengo's fans always make the difference. I've played against them a few times at the Maracanã, and now it will be in their favor. I hope everything goes well. We're preparing so that we can deliver a match of the level we want. We'll try to provide a spectacle for the fans. This is their moment, and we're counting on their support to achieve the result."
Finally, the coach emphasized that nowadays the teams know each other very well and reinforced that Flamengo is ready for any situation in next Saturday's game.
"Today all the teams know each other and we have to be prepared for any kind of change, even during the match. Our players know this. We've already positioned ourselves regarding Fluminense's starting lineup should it be confirmed, and for any other formation. We will try to exploit any spaces they leave."

Momentum for the attackers
I spoke with them and I think they're close to ending this drought, given everything they're doing in training. I'm excited to see everything we're producing in training. Things are changing and I have no doubt that the striker who plays will be closer to scoring.
Diego vs. Sornoza
They are two great players. Both are fundamental to their teams. Diego is recovering and Sornoza is with his national team. Regardless, both teams will be looking for a result and are coming off good performances. We will have a great classic and I hope Flamengo prepares adequately to play a good game and achieve the result.
Pay attention to Vitinho.
It's natural that a player of this level, who has only recently joined the team, needs time, accountability, and encouragement. That's what we're trying to do with him.
