Duel between Deivid and Washington is the attraction in the classic

The forwards competed for the top scorer in the 2004 Brazilian Championship and will face each other this Sunday in the Fla x Flu

In 2004, Deivid and Washington were locked in a fierce battle for the Brazilian Championship's top scorer title. Flamengo's current number 99 played for Santos, while Coração Valente was the standout player for Atlético Paranaense. Washington prevailed at the time. Now, the two will face each other again on Sunday (September 19.09th) in the Fla vs. Flu match, part of the 23rd round of the 2010 Brasileirão.

This time, Deivid hopes to come out on top and help Flamengo secure a victory in the derby, which will be played at Engenhão.

"Washington is a great player, a great striker. We've faced each other before and he was Atlético-PR's top scorer in 2004. I hope to win this duel this time," he said.

The center forward knows that the duel with Tricolor das Laranjeiras will not be easy, but he is betting on the current moment of red-black confidence against a Fluminense that has not won in a few rounds.

"We know our responsibility and the situation we're in. But the Fluminense team is also a bit shaken by the loss to Corinthians. We'll try to take advantage of that, of their nervousness," he added.

At 30 years old, Deivid will play his fifth game for Rubro-Negro and continues in search of his first goal wearing the Sacred Mantle.
