On Tuesday (24), Flamengo president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello informed the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that he will not be head of the delegation for the Brazilian National Team that will compete in the Copa América Centenário, in the United States. The president understands that, due to the current situation of the red-black team, it is important that he remains close to the club's daily life and planning.
"When I accepted the CBF's invitation to lead the Brazilian National Team delegation to the United States, Flamengo was experiencing a much less turbulent time than it is now. Therefore, given the need to rediscover the path of positive results in football, I will remain close to the club, as I have done since taking over as president in 2013. Out of respect for the National Team, I will attend the opening match in the Copa América against Ecuador on July 4th," he highlighted.
