The red-black squad presents itself with 32 players
The 2010 season began this Tuesday for Flamengo football.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inWith a new president, a new sponsor, but no reinforcements and only the return of players who were loaned to other clubs, Flamengo's squad returned to training this Tuesday morning in Gávea. The current Brazilian champion and three-time state champion, the Flamengo squad currently has 32 players. This doesn't include Petkovic, who was released by the board and has a few more days off in his home country of Serbia.
\There's not much news. Of the 32 players, 23 were part of the squad that won the Brazilian Championship on December 6th. Three of them were promoted from the youth academy, and six are returning from loan spells. Diego, Ze Roberto, Dênis Marques, Everton, and Ronaldo Angelim, whose stays have not yet been determined, and Petkovic, who has been released, are the absentees. Players whose departures were speculated, such as Fabrício, Paulo Victor, Welinton, Lenon, and Erick Flores, have returned. Alex Cruz, Maxi, and Airton are no longer part of the squad.
\Before the return match, vice president of football Marcos Braz and president Patrícia Amorim had a quick chat with the group. The red-and-black team's first training session was light, just a few laps of the field and medical checkups, followed by a short session in the gym.
\It's worth remembering that this isn't the final team for the season. Some players could still be traded, others could renew their contracts, and signings will certainly be made. Full-backs Galhardo and Jorbison, midfielder João Vitor, and forward Diego Maurício, all youth team product, are also expected to be part of the 2010 squad.
