The afternoon of this Monday (January 03.01) was also a time of work for Flamengo players, in Gávea. After their morning training session, the red-and-blacks returned to physical activities under the guidance of trainers Antônio Mello, Marcelo Martorelli, and Diogo Linhares. The group was split in two – one part trained on the field and the other in the gym.
Even in the rain, the athletes worked tirelessly. The main addition to the squad was young striker Romário, one of the standout players from Flamengo's U-17 title in the 2010 Rio de Janeiro State Championship. The player was in Gávea this morning, sorting out some paperwork, and trained with the professional group for the first time this afternoon.
After training, the players head to the airport, where they'll fly to Londrina, the location of the red-and-black team's preseason training camp. The team will play its first training session in Paraná this Tuesday (January 04.01) at the SM Sports training center. On Sunday (January 09.01), the team will play a friendly against the local team.
