The cast trains hard physically
Alexandre Sanz led the morning activity at CT Ninho do Urubu.
By Flamengo Archive - inFlamengo's squad returned to training this Wednesday morning at the Ninho do Urubu Training Center in Vargem Grande. The red-and-black team is preparing for its next Brazilian Championship challenge on Sunday against Botafogo at the Engenhão stadium.
With an eye on the derby, fitness coach Alexandre Sanz led a rigorous training session for the red-and-black squad. Petkovic, suffering from pain in his left leg, worked on weight training and underwent physical therapy. Adriano was at the training center but was excused from training to see a dentist.
Defender Álvaro, who is recovering from pain in his right knee, underwent physical therapy and could be on the field tomorrow afternoon for tactical training at the training center. The number 14 is optimistic about being on the field on Sunday.
"I'm optimistic, although I was the same last week. I even asked the doctors to let me play, but they were right not to because it could have worsened. Now I feel like I can play. I'll know if I can play on Friday or Saturday. I'm very eager, but I can't let it override my condition and the doctors' word. If I do take the field, it's because I'll be ready to help and play the whole match. If they clear me and ask if I can, it's because I'll be able to."
