In his first test at Flamengo, the young Vander, 20 years old, signed from Bahia, was approved by coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo and the Flamengo fans. The midfielder, who wore the number 7 shirt against Londrina this Sunday (January 09.01th), impressed with his speed and quality in creating plays. Playing as a true number 10, he made good passes, dribbled well on the wings and showed his credentials to those who didn't know him.
Humble, the player doesn't hide that playing for Flamengo is a great opportunity for his career, but he shows personality and says he's not afraid of the pressure. Guaranteeing that he won't tremble wearing the sacred jersey, he says he's ready to continue working and helping the team.
"I'm looking to help the team in any way I can, whether as a starter or coming on as a substitute. I'm available for whatever the coach chooses. I hope to make good plays that the fans will like, the coach will like too, and I always try to give my best on the field. I worked hard to get to Flamengo. I've arrived, now there's no reason to tremble. It's about staying focused on the work and continuing to fight to help the team," he said.
Having observed all aspects of national football, Luxa revealed that he studied Vander's style of play before signing him and that his good performance was not a surprise.
"We signed Vander because we knew his footballing abilities. We know he plays from deep, gets forward with dribbles, passes, and can transition the game... So this scouting work is important. I even have a company that does this service for me, which helps a lot. I keep an eye on everything," he added.
