Flamengo will face Fortaleza again this Wednesday (04), at 21:45 pm, at Castelão, after five years without clashes against the tricolor cearense. It was in 2011, with a red-black victory, that the teams faced each other for the last time, precisely in the second phase of the Copa do Brasil. At the time, Mais Querido took the best, winning and securing an early spot.

With a full house, Flamengo attacked Fortaleza, struggling with their defense, but quickly opened the scoring. Ronaldinho Gaúcho fed Thiago Neves inside the box, who then set up Renato Abreu, who unleashed a powerful right-footed shot to score the first goal for Flamengo in the 20th minute.

At a disadvantage, Fortaleza began forcing offensive plays. As a result, Flamengo opted to manage possession, hold the game, and wait for a mistake from their opponent to extend their lead. Thus, the first half ended with a narrow advantage for Mengão.

In the second half, Flamengo needed one more goal to eliminate the second leg and secure early qualification. And it was on a quick counterattack, complete with a half-bicycle kick from Thiago Neves, not so successful, that Wanderley tested the ball to score the second for Flamengo. With the result assured, Flamengo held the ball up front and let the clock run out. In the end, they still found time and space for a third goal. Ronaldinho Gaúcho set up Diego Maurício to seal the final score in the 46th minute of the second half.

The match had a special ingredient: Ronaldo Angelim, an idol of both fans, came on during the game and was cheered by the entire stadium.
