Saturday night (18) was a chat on FlaTV with Luiz Eduardo Baptista, Flamengo's vice president of External Relations. In the online conversation, Bap spoke about several topics of interest to the club and fans. Check it out below:

"Flamengo has been working day in and day out on the possibility of football returning. A return requires a lot of planning. It's not just the mayor or governor decreeing that clubs can resume playing. We need a plan in advance, especially to avoid putting the athletes at risk. It's a complex issue that needs to be discussed while we're on hold. Otherwise, when the lockdown ends, it will take another 30 days to return."

"We are living in a very unique moment in human history; nothing like this has ever been experienced. Some say the Spanish flu was worse. But for a society as connected as ours, social distancing is a huge challenge. We will maintain many of the habits we're acquiring after this. We have to protect lives, but on the other hand, we know that if the economy shuts down, many people will die of hunger or other ills. Imagine working in tourism, for example. When the pandemic is over, will everyone want to travel? The difference between medicine and poison is the dose. When you have highly polarized discussions, the correct alternative is usually somewhere in the middle."

"We make important decisions for the club as a group. Our view is that football is too important to be run by a single head. When you have a football council, you leave guesswork aside and make far fewer mistakes. This was one of the great successes of President Landim's administration. No one person is in charge. The council doesn't interfere in any of the day-to-day activities. Training, who plays, who doesn't play... It's all that serves as a foundation and is strategic. This year, we'll extend this model of action to the youth teams."

"It was reported in the media that Flamengo took out a line of credit as if it had some kind of financial problem. But we don't know what's coming. We have to protect our cash flow to continue fulfilling our commitments. That's why we made this decision before other clubs. We're not taking out money because we're broke, but to have something extra, a breath of fresh air, to avoid stumbling," he assured.

"Flamengo is annoying because Flamengo has an opinion and will not give up the role it should play. Flamengo has to lead movements. But can only Flamengo do that? Of course not. We believe in it and work on it, but always with respect."
