Typically, great artists save their best hits for last. No one can predict how Bruno Henrique's time at Flamengo will play out, but considering his debut, he already arrived playing like a classic right from the start. In 45 minutes, the number 27 changed the game against Botafogo, tormenting the black-and-white defense, scoring twice, turning the game around, and securing Flamengo's 2-1 victory at their opponent's home ground. A better debut is impossible.
It was a duel of two distinct halves. In the first, Botafogo was more aggressive and pressured Flamengo. With a sparsely attended stadium and intense heat in Rio, the Rubro-Negro started better and pressed their rival on their home field. Rodrigo Caio had a good header early on, but Gatito saved well. Soon after, Vitinho also had another chance. Botafogo recovered and leveled the match. After the timeout, they found the goal. Jean's weak shot from distance hit João Paulo and deceived Diego Alves. Flamengo felt the blow and had to recover, but they almost conceded the second in the 31st minute, with a shot from Alex Santana that Diego Alves parried. And that's how the first half ended.
After halftime, Abel Braga made his first change to the team, bringing on debutant Bruno Henrique for Vitinho. The change paid off, and the player became the team's main attacking option. In the 17th minute, Bruno had the first chance to slide in front of goal, but the defense got there first and prevented it. However, a minute later, there was no way out. From the corner kick, Everton Ribeiro headed the ball to the debutant, who sent it past Gatito. The game was tied.
Five minutes later, the same player had another chance, with a beautiful shot from the edge of the box, but the ball skimmed the post. Flamengo was the only one, and Bruno Henrique was the only one. In the 25th minute, the ball went in again. And it was his turn. In a confusing play, Bruno Henrique hit a beautiful shot into the top corner, giving Gatito no chance, sealing the score. Botafogo launched into a full attack, but were thwarted by the red-and-black defense that secured the victory in the derby and the joy of the nation.
