By Romulo Paranhos - inOn a high-scoring afternoon at Maracanã, Flamengo beat Internacional 3-2 this Sunday (1), in a match valid for the 36th round of the Brasileirão. Overwhelming in the first half, Mengão built the score with two goals from Michael and one from Léo Ortiz. With the result, Rubro-Negro surpassed the team from Rio Grande do Sul in the league table and rose to third place with 66 points.

The game
Flamengo started the match valuing possession. The first good attacking move came just two minutes in. Wesley passed to Gerson on the right side of the box, who passed it to Evertton Araújo, who picked it up first time from the edge of the box. The ball rose and went over the goal.
In the ninth minute, Internacional created their first threat with a shot from Bruno Tabata. Rossi parried it and made a great save. Otherwise, Internacional controlled possession in the attacking half and tried to reach the opponent's box. In the 24th minute, Plata headed a good pass to Bruno Henrique, who was one-on-one with Rochet, and the goalkeeper was able to clear it.
Until the 28th minute, Mengão opened the scoring at Maraca! De La Cruz took a corner kick into the box and Léo Ortiz rose with style to head the ball into the far corner of goalkeeper Rochet's net: 1-0.
After opening the scoring, Flamengo maintained control of the game and scored their second goal in the 36th minute. In a well-rehearsed play, Gerson sent a three-finger cross into the box, and Plata headed the ball against the crossbar. On the rebound, Alex Sandro avoided the goal line and played it into the middle. Michael got ahead of his marker and slotted it into the back of the net: 2-0.
Mengão didn't let up and scored their third goal shortly after. Wesley sprinted down the right and sent a low cross into the middle of the box. The ball deflected off the Colorado defense and fell to Michael, who slotted it into the net for his second goal of the match: 3-0. An excellent first half for the red-and-black team.
In the second half, Mais Querido continued with the same attacking momentum, always looking for vertical passes. Five minutes in, Plata crossed from the right and Bruno Henrique caught it first time. The ball sailed over the goal.
Internacional pulled one back in the ninth minute. Wesley received the ball just outside the box, cut inside, and fired a shot into Rossi's right corner: 3-1. With the goal, Internacional's team perked up and began to threaten the red-and-black goal more, scoring the second in the 16th minute. Enner Valencia's header from the six-yard box beat Rossi: 3-2.
After the scare of conceding two consecutive goals, Flamengo regained its composure and continued exchanging passes in the attacking half. In the 30th minute, Plata led a counterattack on the right, cut inside, and shot. Rochet made another fine save.
In the final minutes, the game became more exciting with Inter coming forward to try and equalize, but the red-black team managed to hold on to the advantage and left the field with another victory at home.
