In a lively game, Flamengo draws with Atlético-MG goalless at Maracanã
The red-black team created several chances, especially in the first half, but were unable to find the net.
By Romulo Paranhos - inAfter winning the Copa do Brasil for the fifth time, Flamengo took to the field this Wednesday (13) and drew 0-0 with Atlético-MG at Maracanã, in the 33rd round of the Brasileirão. Rubro-Negro dominated much of the game, created several chances, but the ball refused to go in. With the result, the Mais Querido reached 59 points and is in fourth place.

The game
The first moves of the game involved a battle for possession. Flamengo tried to break out by exchanging passes from the defensive half. Meanwhile, Atlético-MG was well-positioned and waiting in the back to exploit counterattacks.
In the 15th minute, the red-and-black team drew the first "woohoo" from the fans. Bruno Henrique got past Otávio's marking and took a shot from outside the box. The ball sailed just wide of Everson's right post. The "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) seemed oblivious to the numerous absences and kept pushing forward, reaching the opponent's box frequently.
Looking for the first goal, Flamengo continued to pressure Atlético. In the 30th minute, Bruno Henrique's shot deflected, but the goalkeeper palmed it away. Matheus Gonçalves then took the ball, but his shot was saved by Everson.
Three minutes later, Rubro-Negro was awarded a penalty. Wesley sprinted forward and was only stopped by a foul inside the box. The referee awarded the penalty. David Luiz stepped up to take the shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. Alcaraz fired the rebound wide.
In the final minutes, after a corner kick into the box, Fabrício Bruno headed dangerously, drawing another good save from Everson. In stoppage time, the Rubro-Negro continued to press and, thanks to another miracle from Everson, were unable to take the lead. Alex Sandro crossed for Michael, who headed firmly downfield. The goalkeeper jumped in the corner and saved the Minas Gerais team again. The first half ended goalless, but Mengão had plenty of opportunities to open the scoring.
Early in the second half, Flamengo had another great chance to take the lead. Rossi delivered a beautiful pass to Matheus Gonçalves, who made a good run down the right, cut inside, and shot. The ball hit the post. Another good moment for Flamengo came with Wesley on the right. The full-back took a shot from outside the box, but the ball deflected off the defense and went just wide of the goalkeeper's right post.
With quick and precise passing, the red-and-black team continued to create attacking chances. Fabrício Bruno took a shot from outside the box, and on the rebound, Michael shot one-on-one with Everson, who made another great save.
In the final stretch, Atlético-MG began to push forward more and threaten Rossi's goal. Due to the high intensity displayed for much of the match, the red-and-black team was showing some physical fatigue. In stoppage time, Flamengo went on the attack to try for the winning goal, but the tie remained at Maracanã.
