In the third-place play-off of the Club World Cup, Flamengo beat Al Ahly 4-2 this Saturday (11), at the Ibn Batouta Stadium, in Tangier, Morocco. The red-black team's goals were scored by Gabi and Pedro, who each scored twice. With the result, Mais Querido finishes the competition in third place.

The game
The match began with both teams closely studying each other. Flamengo had the majority of possession and exchanged passes in the attacking half. In the sixth minute, Varela was brought down in the box, and after consulting VAR, the referee awarded a penalty. Gabigol stepped up to take the shot and skillfully beat the goalkeeper to open the scoring in Tangier: 1-0.

Trailing, Al Ahly began to play more, attacking more frequently. In the 25th minute, Mengão launched a counterattack, Gabi found Arrascaeta on the right, and the Uruguayan crossed for Pedro to head in. On the rebound, the number 10 challenged the goalkeeper, but his shot went wide.

In the 35th minute, Arrascaeta took the ball down the middle and passed it to Gabi, who struck hard from the edge of the box. The goalkeeper made the save in two attempts. In the final stretch of the first half, Al Ahly equalized with Abdelkader's header: 1-1.

In the second half, Sherif was brought down inside the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. Maaloul stepped up to take the shot, but goalkeeper Santos saved it! Four minutes later, Abdelkader made a solo run and hit a cross into the corner to make it 2-1.

Flamengo tried to react quickly! In the 19th minute, Ayrton Lucas made a run down the left and was brought down by Abdelfattah. After consulting the VAR, the referee called a foul outside the box and sent off the Egyptian player.

With an extra man, the red-and-black team pressed Al Ahly until they managed to equalize in the 32nd minute. Gabigol launched a ball into the box, the goalkeeper came out wrong, and the ball fell to Pedro, who subtly tapped it into the net: 2-2.

After the match, the referee checked VAR again and caught Hany's handball inside Al Ahly's box. Penalty for Flamengo! Gabigol stepped up to take the penalty and again sent El Shenawy past to score his second goal of the match: 3-2.

To seal Mengão's victory, Pedro scored the fourth goal in the 45th minute. Dieng misplaced the pass and gifted the ball to the number 9, who controlled it, taking it away from his marker, and hit a powerful cross that left the goalkeeper with no chance: 4-2. Arrascaeta even scored the fifth in the 51st minute, but the referee flagged the Uruguayan for offside.

With the victory, Mais Querido finishes in third place in the Club World Cup.
