Victory through grit! In the 26th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo defeated Bahia 4-3 on Sunday night (20), at Maracanã. The Rubro-Negro's goals were scored by Bruno Henrique, Isla, who scored her first with the red-black shirt, Pedro and Vitinho. After taking the lead and being turned around, Mengão was brave, tied the match and scored the winning goal in the final minutes. With the result, the Mais Querido took second place in the championship.
The game
Flamengo started the first half attacking Bahia and, just four minutes in, opened the scoring with a stunning goal! Bruno Henrique ran freely down the left, cut inside, and unleashed a powerful shot. The ball went into the goalkeeper's left corner: 1-0. In the ninth minute, Gabigol received a red card and was sent off, leaving the Rubro-Negro with ten men.
With a numerical disadvantage on the field, the red-and-black team had to sit back and invest in counterattacks. In the 32nd minute, Mengão extended their lead! Gerson delivered a beautiful pass to Bruno Henrique behind the defense. The forward got the better of the ball, cleared the play, and passed it to Isla, who tapped it in with his left foot: 2-0.
In the 41st minute, Bruno Henrique made another beautiful play, bursting into the box, dribbling past Juninho, and striking a powerful shot that the goalkeeper made a good save. In the 47th minute, Arrascaeta cut the ball, left Gregore behind, and crossed perfectly for Bruno Henrique. The number 27 struck on goal, but the ball hit the post. The Mais Querido (Most Beloved) went into halftime with the lead.
At the start of the second half, Bahia reduced the deficit with Juan Ramírez: 2-1. At 10', the Bahian team tied the game with Gilberto, who hit a bomb from outside the area: 2-2. Then, Gilberto scored again and made it three for Bahia: 3-2.
Looking for an equalizer, Gomes received a pass from Arrascaeta and fired a shot, but the ball hit the post. In the 36th minute, Mengão equalized with Pedro! Filipe Luís received the ball in space in the box and crossed for the center forward to chest home: 3-3.
After so much persistence, Rubro-Negro managed to turn the game around! Pedro delivered a beautiful backheel pass that left Vitinho in a position to score the winning goal for Rubro-Negro: 4-3.
And now?
Mengão returns to the field next Saturday (26) to face Fortaleza, at 19 pm, at Castelão. The clash is valid for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship.
