After a stellar 3-2 victory over Figueirense on Wednesday in Florianópolis, Flamengo's squad returned to training this Friday morning at Gávea Stadium. Flamengo is already preparing for its next Brazilian Championship match, on the 14th, against São Paulo at Morumbi Stadium.

While the starters were doing physical training, the rest of the squad took part in a training match against Estácio de Sá, in the Second Division of the Rio de Janeiro State Championship. Flamengo won 6-0, with goals from Erick Flores, Josiel (2), Cristian, Fernando and Fernandão. Coach Caio Júnior started Flamengo with: Diego; Toró, Leonardo, Thiago Sales and Eltinho; Cristian, Jônatas, Sambueza (Fernando) and Erick Flores; Josiel and Vandinho (Fernandão).

Striker Josiel, scorer of two goals and a standout performer, received praise from manager Caio Júnior.

"I liked Josiel's performance. If he's registered, he can be used. We've already seen in training that he'll certainly help us a lot," the coach stated.

Gávea's new number 9 stated that he is improving physically and technically with training. According to Josiel, he is expected to be available for Caio Júnior for the match against São Paulo.

"I was in the middle of preseason there, and it's natural that I'm improving in training. I expect to be able to play in the next game. The lineup depends on the coach, but I'll be close to ideal and ready to help. I'm likely to start scoring again. I was marked that way and have been improving in training. As I regain my technique, the goals will come and my confidence will grow."

Striker Ronaldo Fenômeno had his first contact with the Flamengo squad today. The player, who is recovering from a serious knee surgery, did some physical training at the club's gym.
