The Brazilian league takes another break, and now it's time for international competition. Flamengo faces Chapecoense this Wednesday at Arena Condá in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana. The return leg will be on September 20th in Rio, and the winner will face the winner of Fluminense vs. LDU. Kick-off is at 7:15 PM. 

Runner-up in the competition, coach Reinaldo Rueda will have his entire squad available for the match, including players who were rested last Sunday. In the final training session, left-back Renê participated as normal and traveled with the group to Chapecó. 

Flamengo and Chapecoense have faced each other only seven times in history. Their record is largely favorable to the red-and-black team, with five wins, one draw, and one loss. In those seven matches, the more beloved team scored 17 goals and conceded only six.

. Considering only the games at Arena Condá, the teams have met three times, with two wins for Rio and one for the Santa Catarina team. The last match at the venue was in August 2016, a 3-1 victory for the red-and-black team, with goals from Diego, Leandro Damião, and Mancuello. 

. Flamengo has played 16 games in the history of the CONMEBOL South American Cup, 10 of which were against Brazilian teams. In these 10 matches, the Mais Querido obtained three wins, four draws and three losses: 1-3 Inter and 0-3 Santos/2003; 0-0 and 2-2 Santos/2004; 0-0 and 1-1 Flu/2009; 1-0 and 1-0 Atlético PR/2011; 2-4 and 3-1 Figueirense/2016.

In the current red-black squad, Diego and Guerrero share the top scorer spot against Chapecoense, with each player having scored three goals. Diego scored one on 08/28/2016 (3x1 Fla) and two on 06/22/2017 (5x1), the same day that Guerrero scored his three goals in the match.

Flamengo vs. Chapecoense has a history of scoring goals. In seven matches, the average is 3,28 goals, and there has never been a 0-0 draw between the two teams.
