Everyone already knows that the duo of Julio Cesar and Juan has a long history. However, this week's Resenha RN shows a side of them that the nation isn't used to. In an exclusive segment on FlaTV, the Flamengo idols took advantage of their great friendship forged over the years for a relaxed interview full of stories.
Speaking about respect and admiration, the goalkeeper, who was the day's reporter, began the conversation with a joke about Juan's great composure off the field. Afterwards, Julio Cesar asked the number 4 about how it felt to return to Flamengo and find the club with a professional and well-maintained infrastructure.
"It was a great joy. I was here at Ninho for the inauguration at the end of 2016, and it was a dream come true for the club and the fans. I was very happy because, as you said, we always followed many projects, many promises, and things didn't come to fruition. As a player and fan, it hurt me to see people saying that Flamengo's structure was poor. We've seen athletes who arrived here and were frustrated by it. For those who support and love the club, this hurts. Today we're experiencing the other side of the coin, because the structure is very good and will continue to improve. We're a club that leaves nothing to be desired. It was a path everyone expected us to take, and now we're getting there," said Juan.
The return to the club also represented a reunion with several figures from their careers, including masseurs, nutritionists, and supervisors. When asked if he saw his return as a fresh start, Juan said no and explained.
"My relationship with Flamengo has always been very close, even without being here. I followed it when I was in Europe, and when I returned to Brazil, I always tried to stay up to date with what was happening, even without playing here. I never let that relationship fade. When you return to everyday life and see these people who were part of your childhood, it makes you even more certain that this is our second home. They respect you not just because of the player, but mainly because they've known you for a long time, your family. This is a source of pride and a certainty that I needed to be here at this moment. I know we need to close our cycle at this club, because our history is here," commented the defender.
