In the 12th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo had a great collective performance and beat Bahia 5-0 on Sunday night (18), in Pituaçu-BA. The goals of Mais Querido were scored by Gabigol (three times), Pedro and Vitinho. With the triumph, Mengão rose to sixth place in the championship with 18 points won.

The game
Flamengo started the match attacking, and within just two minutes, they had already created two good chances to open the scoring, one through Gabigol and the other through Michael. Flamengo pressed Bahia's ball possession high, and Bahia struggled to break out of their own half. With much more possession than their opponents, Flamengo passed the ball around the attacking midfield, looking for space in Bahia's defense.

In the 21st minute, Michael made a good play and the ball fell to Arrascaeta, who was brought down by Nino Paraíba inside the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. Gabigol's shot was perfect, only to displace the goalkeeper to open the scoring: 1-0. In the 35th minute, Mengão came through again. Arrascaeta found Isla on the byline, who crossed first time and found Diego unmarked. He unleashed a powerful shot that Matheus Teixeira saved brilliantly.

In the 40th minute, Mengão extended their lead! Arrascaeta delivered a beautiful pass to Isla, who again reached the byline and crossed low into the middle of the box. Gabigol took the first touch and slotted it into the goalkeeper's corner for his second goal of the match: 2-0. Having dominated the first half, Flamengo went into halftime with a two-goal lead.

At the start of the second half, Bahia came back stronger and threatened Diego Alves' goal more. Seven minutes in, on a counterattack, Gabigol gained the momentum and found himself one-on-one with Matheus Teixeira. He shot past the goalkeeper, who managed to make the save with his feet.

In the 16th minute, Mengão scored the third, again through Gabigol, who scored his hat trick of the match. Everton Ribeiro passed to Gabigol, facing the box. The striker advanced and tapped the ball past the goalkeeper: 3-0. And Flamengo wanted more! In the 28th minute, Vitinho reached the byline and crossed into the box. Pedro appeared between the defenders, stretched his leg, and fired a flying shot into the back of the net: 4-0.

Even with a comfortable lead, Rubro-Negro maintained the pace and scored their fifth goal in the 38th minute. Arrascaeta made a great play and passed the ball to Vitinho, inside the box, who hit it first time into the goalkeeper's left corner and gave the final numbers to the Rubro-Negro rout in Pituaçu: 5-0.

Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Wednesday (21) to face Defensa y Justicia, at 21:30 pm, at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, for the second leg of the round of XNUMX of the Conmebol Libertadores.
