This Sunday (14), Father's Day, the Nation has plenty of reasons to celebrate! Flamengo thrashed Athletico-PR 5-0, at Maracanã, in a game valid for the 22nd round of the Brasileirão. The goals for the Rubro-Negro carioca were scored by Fabrício Bruno (twice), Ayrton Lucas, Lázaro and Pedro. With the result, Mengão provisionally took second place in the championship with 39 points.

The game

Flamengo started the match by rushing forward. Just one minute in, Ayrton Lucas burst into the box and struck a powerful shot, which was well saved by goalkeeper Anderson. On the rebound, Victor Hugo ended up shooting straight at his marker. Marinho then unleashed a free kick, forcing the goalkeeper to palm it away.

In the 13th minute, Matheuzinho reached the baseline and crossed. Cebolinha got behind Orejuela and headed the ball, but Anderson made a good save. Another dangerous move for "Mais Querido" occurred in the 42nd minute. Diego crossed into the box, and Marinho dived in with his head. The goalkeeper stretched out and managed to tap the ball, which hit the crossbar. The first half ended goalless.

After halftime, the game was fiercely contested in midfield. In the 10th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Marinho took a corner kick, and Fabrício Bruno rose higher than everyone to head the ball into the corner and score his first goal for the Sacred Mantle: 1-0. 

In the 13th minute, Flamengo scored their second, and it felt like a replay! In an identical play, Marinho took a corner kick and Fabrício Bruno again got ahead of the goalkeeper and hit the ball with his shoulder to make it 2-0. Even with the lead, Flamengo didn't slow down and scored their third in the 17th minute.

After a counterattack, Cebolinha passed to Matheuzinho, who came face-to-face with the goalkeeper, dribbled past him, and fell after the collision. The ball fell to Ayrton Lucas, who tapped it into the back of the net: 3-0. 

And another corner kick! Marinho took the ball from the right, and this time, Lázaro headed it against the near post to beat the goalkeeper: 4-0. 

In stoppage time, Mengão still had time to score the fifth! From another corner, this time taken by Arrascaeta, Pedro rose unmarked at the far post and scored with a header, sealing the red-and-black rout at the Maracanã stadium, with over 62 in attendance.

Mais Querido returns to the field on Wednesday (17) to face Athletico-PR again, at 21:30 pm, at Arena da Baixada, for the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil.
