The game
Flamengo started the match by dominating the entire attacking half, immediately seeking the first goal. Two minutes in, Luiz Araújo received the ball in the box, dribbled past his defender, and fired a cross-shot wide.

Three minutes later, Mengão opened the scoring at Maraca! Gerson made a great play in a one-two with Pedro, the ball fell to Luiz Araújo, who hit it with his left foot into the top corner of João Carlos' goal to score the first: 1-0.

After the goal, the red-and-black team continued to hold possession in the attacking half. In the 44th minute, Cebolinha received the ball in the box and shot into the top corner. João Carlos made a great save.

In stoppage time, Mengão extended their lead with Pedro, who took advantage of Arrascaeta's cross to head in the second goal for the red-blacks: 2-0. The red-black team went into the break in complete control of the game.

The Mais Querido nearly scored a third early in the second half. Erick switched the play to Arrascaeta, who crossed the ball into the box, but Luiz Araújo fired wide. Cebolinha then played a one-two with Gerson and found himself face-to-face with João Carlos. The striker fired a shot straight at the goalkeeper, and the rebound sent it over the bar.

In the 29th minute, after consulting VAR, the referee awarded a penalty by Varela on Clayson. The striker himself stepped up to take the penalty and reduced the deficit for Cuiabá: 2-1.

In the final stretch, Filipe Luís came off to make way for Ayrton Lucas and received the affection of the Nation, with his name shouted at the Maracanã.

Almost in stoppage time, Rodrigo Caio entered the field for his farewell to Mengão and was also greeted by the red-and-black fans. The final result was a victory for Flamengo, which now has 66 points in the championship.
