Flamengo, despite playing mostly with reserves, played with character and drew 1-1 with Fluminense this Sunday at Maracanã. Alan opened the scoring for the team from Laranjeiras, and Emerson, making his debut for the red-and-blacks, equalized in the 48th minute. The two teams will face each other again in the semifinals of the Taça Rio. Botafogo and Vasco will decide the other spot in the final.

Flamengo started the game pressing and had the first opportunity in the second minute. Everton Silva made a good run down the right and crossed to Erick Flores, who fired a dangerous shot just wide of Fernando Henrique's post. Two minutes later, Erick Flores took a chance from the edge of the box, scaring Fluminense's number 1.

In the 25th minute, Fierro received the ball from Toró, burst into the penalty area, and fired a cross-shot. The ball grazed Fernando Henrique's right post. Soon after, Thiago Neves controlled the ball in the penalty area and shot. Ronaldo Angelim cleared it for a corner. It was the last good chance of a tightly contested first half.

Flamengo returned for the second half with young Lenon and striker Emerson replacing Egídio and Jônatas. Just two minutes in, the number 11, making his first appearance for Flamengo, took a powerful shot, but the ball went wide. Soon after, Lenon tried his luck from the edge of the box and nearly opened the scoring.

In the 30th minute, Thiago Neves burst into the box, dribbled past Welinton, and shot. Diego, well-positioned, made another great save. In the 32nd minute, Alan, who had come on for Fred, got ahead of full-back Everton Silva and finished for the goal: 1-0 Fluminense.
