First words
"I've always been a Flamengo fan and didn't know it. We know how difficult it was to come here. I want to thank Flamengo for the effort they made to get me here. I've played against them at the Maracanã, and it's incredibly difficult to play against Flamengo at the Maracanã. Your legs shake. The new players, who have never seen this before, will definitely feel it, they'll get goosebumps. It's a beautiful celebration. I wanted to leave this message to the fans thanking them."
Debut with the Mantle
"I'm coming off a preseason and need time to adapt. I don't want to rush in and jump in right away. I need to prepare myself well physically to do a good job. For me, preseason has started, since I was on vacation. But I only need a short amount of time. I'm anxious."
Red-black structure
"Flamengo's structure is impeccable. Most European clubs don't have that. I was really impressed by the pitch and the facilities. Everything is very new. It's a great pleasure to be part of this club."
Choose Flamengo
"I had a few offers to stay in Europe. I left Brazil at 20, way too early. They said I would regress in my career, but quite the opposite. Flamengo is a huge team, one of the biggest in the world. We know the impact Flamengo has worldwide. Wherever I've been, everyone knows Flamengo."
Filipe Luis
"I have a thing with Filipe, he was also a full-back. He had great physical strength, so that could help me. He's already explained a lot about what he wants from me. He said I can pedal and go forward. When the coach says that to me, there's a risk I take with everything (laughs). He has a style of play that really catches my attention. He likes to attack, and I believe he has a bright future as a coach."
