A rivalry filled the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium on Wednesday night. In the match against their main futsal rival, Flamengo fell behind and managed to come back with the overwhelming support of their fans. But in the end, they tied the match: 4-4, in a lively match marked by Flamengo fans taunting their opponents and vice versa. So far, everything was normal, except that, two minutes from the end, a brawl in the stands halted the match, which was suspended until further notice.

There's a special atmosphere surrounding the futsal clashes between Flamengo and Vassouras. Since 2007, when Severino Sombra University partnered with Vasco da Gama, the two teams have faced each other several times, both in the Metropolitan and State Championships, and each time, their rivalry has set the tone, whether in Vassouras or Rio de Janeiro. This Wednesday was no different. There was plenty of fighting on the court, plenty of teasing both on and off the court. The final result: no one knows.

The Flamengo fans turned out in force at Gávea to cheer on their team and also to pressure their opponents. But despite Flamengo's sixth player being in the stands, Vassouras opened the scoring. Marcelino capitalized on a strong counterattack from deep in the defense to make it 1-0 in the seventh minute. The home side felt the pressure and conceded a second goal in the 14th minute, with a shot from outside the box by Daniel. But Michel scored soon after and kept Mengão in the game.

The start of the second half couldn't have gone better for Flamengo. Just two minutes in, Diego Carvalho received a pass from Michel and unleashed a powerful shot, unstoppable by Juninho, to tie the game. The fans cheered, cheering the red-and-black team even more, and watched their team continue to press, press, and press. It paid off. In the 11th minute, Silva sent a free kick straight to Jaxwel, turning the game around: 3-2. Five minutes later, Magrão scored his own, extending Flamengo's lead.

But the game wasn't over yet. Marcelino pulled one back with three minutes remaining. Shortly after, Cazuza equalized. Fans and players of the visiting team began to heckle the red-and-blacks, and a brawl broke out in the stands, forcing the game to be stopped less than two minutes before the final whistle, as fans and players were subjected to pepper spray fired by the Military Police. According to the refereeing team, the match has been suspended and will be referred to the Rio de Janeiro Futsal Federation's tribunal, which will decide whether to call the match or play the final two minutes.

With the result, Flamengo reaches 18 points in the competition and maintains a two-point lead over Vassourenses, with three games remaining in the qualifying round. Flamengo is now in third place, behind only Petrópolis and Cabo Frio, which have 26 and 23, respectively. América is fourth with 17. In the next round, Flamengo faces Comary in Teresópolis on Monday at 20 pm.
