Clarification on the current activities of the CT
By Flamengo Regatta Club - inClube de Regatas do Flamengo hereby clarifies that the option to keep the Professional Football Training Center in a “soft open” system, that is, partially open, only for physiotherapy and physiological recovery activities, is the result of an administrative decision, based on the legal terms of Municipal Decree 47.282/2020.
Flamengo is confident about the activities carried out at its training center, given that, in addition to the Club not having violated any legal order, it has also established a strict safety and health protocol, which is being strictly followed by all professionals working there, in order to prevent contagion by the new coronavirus.
Upon analyzing Municipal Decree No. 47.282/2020, including obtaining an external legal opinion, we found no legal prohibition or specific impediment to the operation of a private soccer training center. Flamengo understands that the activities carried out adhere to the health and safety standards required by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, as set forth in the aforementioned decree, including, among others, a minimum distance of two meters, a minimum number of professionals working, the use of masks and hand sanitizer, etc.
Furthermore, we are extensively testing athletes and staff to determine if anyone is infected with the coronavirus, adopting standard measures for those who test positive, as previously reported. In other words, Flamengo is doing more than required by applicable law to protect its employees as much as possible.
Therefore, Flamengo states that it will respectfully await the removal of the distancing restriction for collective training, with the appropriate care and procedures, by the competent authorities and that it will remain at their disposal to provide any and all necessary clarification.
In light of this, the Club clarifies that physicians and their affiliated organizations must carefully analyze applicable legislation before issuing incomplete and legally inappropriate statements. The return of football matches behind closed doors must be handled carefully and responsibly by all involved, without club-related passions or exaggerations.
We inform you that the Club will assist Dr. Márcio Tannure, head of Flamengo's Football Medical Department, in clarifying all of CREMERJ's questions to resolve any doubts that may exist.
Finally, although this decision was based on a legal analysis of the legislation, we would like to thank Dr. Tannure for the brilliant work he did in developing the safety protocol for Flamengo's employees and athletes.
