Clarifications to public opinion

By - in
Regarding the responses given by the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation to the pertinent questions regarding the entity's 2014 Balance Sheet, CR Flamengo publicly regrets that, instead of providing clear and objective answers to the requested information, FERJ has chosen to confuse matters and evade its obligation, even reproducing an accusatory and completely factually unsubstantiated rhetoric repeatedly delivered by the political faction defeated in CR Flamengo's last presidential election. This crude rhetoric contrasts public funding with the failure to pay taxes due, in other words, praising the club's tax evasion, so commonly practiced in the past. This is yet another regrettable demonstration of the disrespectful treatment CR Flamengo has received from FERJ.

Furthermore, FERJ's evasive responses were compounded by base and unjustified accusations, attempting to position CR Flamengo as antagonistic to the organization's other affiliates. Flamengo takes this opportunity to make it clear that it believes that clubs such as Colônia Juliano Moreira Atlético Clube, Associação Esportiva Piscinão de Ramos, and Liga Varre-Saiense de Desportos play a significant social role in their communities. It simply doesn't see any point in them playing a significant role in the Rio de Janeiro Football Championship and the election of FERJ officials.

Returning to the questions themselves, unfortunately, what we imagined when we asked them was confirmed: there was no satisfactory response. Not even the fundamental points were addressed. Namely:

1. Which clubs are in debt to the Federation?
2. How much is owed by each club?
3. What are the payment deadlines?
4. Are there any clubs in arrears?
5. In addition to these amounts, has the entity been a guarantor for any loans from third parties, especially football clubs?

In other words, they all remain shrouded in suspicious opacity. And, therefore, they will continue to be questioned.

CR Flamengo, like the people of Rio de Janeiro, has the right to know in detail each transaction recorded in the balance sheet before approving it. And it understands that FERJ, in the name of transparency and good administrative practices, has the duty to provide such information to all who request it. For the good of Rio de Janeiro's football.
