The 2008 State Futsal Championship begins next weekend for five categories. Flamengo will make its debut on Saturday (9/8).

The under-09, under-11, and under-13 categories, the current Rio champions, face Portuguesa away from home. The under-15 and under-17 teams face Pentágono, a newcomer to the competition, also away from home.

The Youth State Championship will only begin on September 5th, with five teams participating. The competition format will be a home-and-away format, with the top two teams competing in the final, a two-legged format. Flamengo, the current Rio de Janeiro champion, will debut against Portuguesa, with the time yet to be confirmed.

With their debut scheduled for August 15th against Drogarias do Povo in Cabo Frio, the senior team continues training hard. The State Championship format differs from the Carioca Championship and features 12 teams divided into two groups. Each group plays a home-and-away format, with the top four teams from each group qualifying for the second phase (quarterfinals).

Flamengo is in group A, along with Vasco da Gama, Cabo Frio, Drogaria do Povo, Canto do Rio and Grajaú.
