Hamstring strain doesn't discourage Clayton
By Flamengo Archive - inClayton suffered a left thigh strain in the final play of the match against Goiás. The incident occurred on the right wing during a cross to midfielder Renato.
The player expressed confidence in his recovery, but made it clear that he still feels pain in the area. He is undergoing intensive treatment, two shifts a day. The medical department expects him to return to training with the group this Wednesday, May 23rd.
For the midfielder, Flamengo's performance was very good and he hopes to improve his performance even further.
"Flamengo found their feet, and against Palmeiras we played better at times, but the victory didn't come. Fortunately, against Goiás, we played attractive and efficient football. We marked well, sometimes with all eleven players behind the ball, and we came out with great quality in attack," said Clayton.
Clayton also commented that this is the position he likes to play in and that the coach has the squad in his hands.
"Ney has the group under his control. I can't comment on the lineup, but I feel more comfortable playing with two defensive midfielders, regardless of whether I have two or three center-backs. I like playing in the area of the field I played in against Goiás; there I know I can perform much better."
