By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inSmiling, Adriano entered the press room at Gávea on Thursday afternoon (27.05) to give his last press conference at Flamengo. Signed in May 2009, the Emperor spent just under a year at the club that revealed him, was the top scorer in the Brazilian Championship, with 19 goals, and was one of the highlights of the conquest, which the Rubro-Negro had not achieved for 17 years.

Packing his bags to return to Italian football, where he intends to prove his worth, he spoke about his time at Gávea and the future. The player happily promised to return to Flamengo soon, celebrated the "wonderful" year he had in 2009, and explained that a deal with Roma is very close.
\At the end, the Emperor thanked the press and his companions and, emotionally, announced: "I'm going, but one day I'll come back."

Return to Italy - Many reasons make me return. I still have a while to go. I've regained my happiness here. I owe a lot to Flamengo. I came to Brazil sad, returned to Flamengo, and they gave me that happiness back. But today I also owe it to Italy. I played seven seasons there, and something was missing to erase what I did. I wanted the opportunity to show them my football once again. I know I owed it. It was well thought out, and I'm happy.
Flamengo's departure - There were no problems with Flamengo. It was the club that welcomed me when I needed it, and I have no reason to speak ill of the club. It was a decision I made. I spoke with the president and Isaias, and everything was amicable. I leave here with my head held high. I owe Flamengo the affection the fans gave me; the club welcomed me and made me happy again, with this wonderful group. I will move on with my life, but always thinking of Flamengo, with the club in my heart.
Farewell – If I say I wasn't emotional, I'd be lying. It's hard to say goodbye without feeling emotional. I won't do it again in front of you, but the group is wonderful, and I leave with my heart in my mouth. I'm sad about it, but it happens. It wasn't the first time, but I've never been part of a group like this. I'm happy to have been part of it, and who knows, maybe when I return, there might be a group of people together to continue this atmosphere here. When you identify with yourself and see a group that knows who you are, it really hurts.
Rome - I spoke with Roma's management and I return there knowing the responsibility, which is great. I learned a lot here and, certainly, I won't make the same mistakes I've made in the past. I've made a lot of mistakes and never lied to anyone. What I did, I did, and I regret it. But now it's in the past, and I have to mature. Everyone knows what I did, but they gave me a vote of confidence, and I hope to give back. Since last year, Roma had already made a plan for me and had been thinking about it. I made this decision to return to Italy because I feel I owed it, regardless of what happened at Flamengo. The details will be finalized there. We'll discuss it here. They'll provide a structure for me to take my family, and I hope that the little that remains to be resolved ends up working out.
Return to Flamengo in the future - Of course I intend to return. When I do, Flamengo will always be my first choice. I hope to do a good job there and perhaps return to Flamengo. Brazil, Flamengo, and the people who love me remain in my heart. I'm a die-hard Flamengo fan; this is the club I love, and I don't think I'll leave without anything. I won an important title, and unfortunately, the other one didn't come. I'll end my career here, or my grandmother will kill me (laughs).
Career review at Flamengo - Last year was very positive. I came back here, many people said it wouldn't work out, and I turned it around with the title. This year I had some problems, and things didn't go my way. We didn't start the season well, and I think it could have been better. I wanted the Carioca, I wanted the Libertadores semifinals, but it wasn't possible. But I leave with my head held high. I never stopped fighting. Everyone here likes me, and that's great.
Emperor – When you're famous and have a name, it's hard to live like a normal person. But I'm a person who can be upset one minute and laughing and joking the next. That will always be a part of my life. I can't compare myself to Totti. He's a top-notch guy, but I'm going there to help Roma win titles. I hope he can help me too. I spoke with him yesterday and hope to help the team. I'm very happy to be playing for Roma. There's still not much time left, but I think it's 90% certain and it's a project I hope to fit into. I'm happy to be called Emperor and to play in a city like Rome.
Brazilian National Team - I thought I'd be called up, but in the end, that wasn't the case. Of course, we were upset; that's normal, but it happens. It was Dunga's decision, and I respect that decision, and I know I gave some reasons for not being called up. I've always done my job consistently for the national team, but I understand what happened. I don't believe I'll play in the next World Cup.
