Everton, a supporter, arrived at Flamengo unknown and without much fanfare surrounding his signing. A Fla-Flu victory in his debut was enough for the player to demonstrate his full potential and earn the trust of the demanding Flamengo fans. Shy in interviews, Everton says his strong start at Flamengo doesn't surprise him.

"I'm gradually improving my performance, but this good start doesn't surprise me. It's to do well that I work hard and always dedicate myself to training. But of course, there's always room for improvement."

After his impressive debut, Everton had a more subdued performance in the 3-2 victory over Figueirense in Florianópolis. For the number 22, the important thing is that the team won, even if he didn't have a great performance.

"Against Figueirense, the important thing was that we won. The marking there is tighter, and maybe that's why I had more difficulty. But I always think about what's best for the team," the player said.

Everton is confident of a good result against São Paulo, on Sunday, at Morumbi, in a game valid for the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship.

"It's going to be very difficult in São Paulo. It's always difficult to win there, but Flamengo is doing well, they've been playing well away from home, and we can come back with a win. The important thing is to go out there knowing we can win."
