It's from Mengão! Flamengo announced this Monday (20) the signing of striker Everton Cebolinha, who was at Benfica. The 26-year-old player signed a contract with the Gávea club until December 2026. He is the Mais Querido's first reinforcement in this mid-year transfer window.

Upon landing in Rio de Janeiro, on Saturday (18), Everton spoke his first words as a Mengão athlete.

"Expectations are the best possible. I hope to be happy with the Sacred Mantle. The nation is different; I didn't expect this reception. I'm very happy and I hope to live up to that on the field," said the striker.

A native of Maracanaú, Ceará, Cebolinha emerged through Fortaleza's youth ranks. With his excellent start at the Ceará club, he caught the attention of Grêmio, who signed him to strengthen their youth academy.

In January 2014, the striker made his professional debut in the match between Grêmio and São José, for the Campeonato Gaúcho. With the tricolor team, Everton won the titles of the Copa do Brasil (2016), Libertadores (2017), Recopa Sudamericana (2018), Campeonato Gaúcho (2018 and 2019) and Recopa Gaúcha (2019).

Signed by Benfica in August 2020, Cebolinha was given the number 7 jersey and scored his first goal for Benfica against Famalicão in the Portuguese Championship. He also played in a Champions League tournament for the club, reaching the quarterfinals.

For the Brazilian national team, Everton was the top scorer at the 2019 Copa América with three goals. In total, the striker has played 19 matches for the green and yellow jersey.
