Flamengo fans were pleasantly surprised by the 2-2 draw against Fluminense last night at Maracanã. Supporter Everton, just 19, made his debut in the red-and-black jersey, showing a lot of personality. The player thanked his teammates for their support and promised to fight hard to repeat his strong performance.

"Everything went well, thank goodness. It was a good debut, and I'm grateful to my teammates. The more experienced players talked to me and gave me a lot of confidence. I felt comfortable on the field and was able to let loose a bit. It was just the first game, and I hope to maintain this good level. That's just my style of play; I like to go after my opponents."

Everton said it was incredibly moving to wear the Flamengo jersey in a packed Maracanã stadium. The number 22 took the opportunity to praise the Flamengo fans.

"I wasn't fazed by the pressure. The Flamengo fans are incredible. They supported us the whole time and helped a lot. I hope to see them again soon, because they threw a wonderful party. Unfortunately, we didn't get the three points for them."

Despite his strong debut, Everton doesn't feel like a starter. He believes Flamengo's squad is very good, and coach Caio Júnior is the one who decides the team.

"I don't feel like a starter. I just have to work harder. The fight for a spot is healthy. Flamengo is the one who benefits from this. Caio Júnior will have a real headache putting the team together."

For Wednesday's duel against Figueirense, in Florianópolis, Everton believes it will be a very competitive match.

"It's always difficult to face Figueirense there. It'll be a big challenge for Flamengo, but our team is ready. We'll work hard these days to be prepared."
