The Everton saga has come to an end. The midfielder, one of Flamengo's standout performers in their sixth Brazilian championship title, was sold by Traffic, the company that holds most of his economic rights, to Tigres, a Mexican club. The deal was for five years, and Everton is already traveling to be presented at his new club on Wednesday night.

The player's agent, Carlos Jatobá, along with Evandro, Everton's father, were at Traffic's headquarters tonight and signed the contract. Jatobá made a point of praising Flamengo's board's fight to keep the player.

"I just have to thank the entire Flamengo board and coaching staff. First, because they were the ones who gave Everton the chance to play his best football and be seen by the world. Second, for the efforts made to keep him at Flamengo, which was the athlete's own desire from the start. However, Tigres left us no choice in presenting an extremely advantageous proposal for all three parties: Traffic, which sold 80% of the economic rights to the Mexican club but still retains 20%, along with the player; Flamengo, which will receive 10% of the total sale price; and the athlete, who gained the security of a long and very good financial contract. I wish Flamengo all the luck in the world in 2010 and may the same happen to Everton," said the agent.

Having just arrived in Rio de Janeiro, after a long and tiring journey back from his hometown, Nortelândia, in the interior of Mato Grosso, Everton did not hide that he felt a mixture of joy and sadness when his negotiation was confirmed.

"Of course, everything had my approval, but I can't deny that I'm sad to leave Flamengo. I've received immense affection from everyone here, and I've been able to showcase my best skills. Not to mention that I reached the pinnacle of my career so far, winning the Brazilian title. I made history at the club, and no one can erase that. I will carry that pride forever. However, I believe I'm entering another new stage in my life, and I'm ready for it. Tigres has an impressive structure, and I have no doubt that I will do very well at this beginning of my international career. I will do everything to honor the jersey of my new club and, above all, continually improve my performance on the field. I still have a lot to show, and I believe that I will have the same support at Tigres that Flamengo gave me to achieve this goal," he stated.

At 21 years old, on December 11, 2009, Everton joined his third club. Having come up through the youth ranks of Paraná Clube, where he turned professional, he caught the attention of Flamengo, who signed him on August 26, 2008. He played 52 games for Flamengo, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.
