Signed during the Brazilian Championship to be one of the midfield options, Everton suffered two injuries that hampered his performance for the red-and-black team. Fully recovered, the number 22 was given a chance in this morning's tactical training and could be the surprise package for Sunday's match against Goiás at Maracanã.

"At the end of the year, the wear and tear is greater. I had two problems, but I'm ready to come on if Caio decides to play me. I was playing in Paraná, but unfortunately I felt the problem here. But in these two remaining games, I'll do my best to help. Caio told me to alternate with Marcelinho up front. This chance to play freely in the middle really excites me."

Everton asked the team to forget the defeat to Cruzeiro and focus only on the match against Goiás.

"We have to forget what happened; Cruzeiro is history. We have to win the remaining games and then see how the competition ends. Goiás plays very well away from home, and we're strong here. We need to win to have a chance of finishing in the top four, and we can't think of anything else. Only a victory can keep us dreaming."
