Everton Ribeiro highlights team play in victory over Ponte Preta.
Flamengo's next match will be on Sunday (6), against Internacional, at Maracanã.
By John Peter Granette - inFlamengo made a good start in the Copa do Brasil, beating Ponte Preta, away from home, by 1-0. At Moisés Lucarelli, Mais Querido relied on a goal from Henrique Dourado to secure the victory and Everton Ribeiro highlighted the collective game on Wednesday night (2).
"That's how we work, the coach asks us to infiltrate. I controlled the ball and looked at Paquetá knowing he would make that movement. That gave me a very good alternative, and when they thought we would rotate the ball again, I ended up passing it to Paquetá, putting him in a position to give another beautiful pass to Henrique. It was a collective play, and that further enhances our team," said the number 7, commenting on the winning goal.
The midfielder also commented on the style of play the team has been showing in matches.
"The team has been playing this way, trying to maintain possession and keep up the pace of the game with passes. There will be games where we'll have to use more long balls into the box, but in this one we managed to keep the ball on the ground, especially since we didn't have that many tall players. The best way was to involve them in passing and dribbling."
