Despite Flamengo's superiority in the Clássico dos Milhões played this Saturday (28), the match ended without goals at the Maracanã. The result kept Mais Querido in seventh position in the Brazilian Championship, with 47 points. After the final whistle, Everton Ribeiro spoke to journalists in the mixed zone of the stadium and analyzed the duel against Vasco.

"We lacked precision when it came to scoring. We created three clear chances and didn't finish them. We owed that today to be able to leave with the victory and improve our position in the standings," said the number 7, speaking about the strategy developed by the opponent. "They were very well organized defensively. Their approach, especially in the second half, was to defend well, even with the wingers helping in marking. This made it very difficult, but even so we created chances. We just lacked the goal, which is the most important thing in football," he added.

During the match, Everton Ribeiro and his namesake Éverton constantly switched positions between the extreme wings of the Flamengo attack. The attacking midfielder explained this aspect of the game plan devised by coach Reinaldo Rueda for the derby.

"These are options. By moving around, we managed to create space, as we did. Everton made a good play on the right, then a good one came up with me on the left. These are alternatives we use to open up their defense. Today it worked for us to create plays, but we ended up with a draw," he commented.

In their next match, another classic. In the second leg of the Conmebol Sudamericana quarter-finals, Flamengo will face Fluminense again at the Maracanã, this time with Flamengo as the home team. Everton spoke about the effect Saturday's draw will have on the team, highlighting their good performance and guaranteeing the same dedication in the Fla-Flu derby.

"Based on our performance, we're going in confident. Because of the way we gave our all on the field again. The spirit has to continue like this, at this level and upwards, so that we can go onto the field and achieve this qualification, which puts us in a good position for the rest of the year," he concluded.
