Before Friday's training session at Gávea, the club's captain and leader, Fábio Luciano, announced that he will retire as soon as the Campeonato Carioca concludes. At 33, the defender decided to bring forward his retirement, scheduled for the end of the year, to spend more time with his wife Viviane and children Gianluca and Isabela.

"It's a difficult decision to make, because we know how important we are to Flamengo. I didn't have the courage to stop at the end of last year because of the pleas from the fans and also from my teammates. I have peace of mind, I've talked a lot with my family, and I'll be able to be closer to them from now on. I'm grateful to the Flamengo fans. They'll read this news, and I want to express the respect, affection, and love I have for them. The time has come. I wasn't afraid to make the decision. It was the right time."

Fábio Luciano said he experienced the happiest moments of his career at Gávea.

"Every day I spent at Flamengo. Winning the Rio de Janeiro title was important, playing in front of a packed Maracanã stadium, receiving the fans' recognition despite the criticism. They always show affection on the streets and never demand anything from me. I've been very happy since I arrived here, and it's definitely the club where I felt most important. I achieved success at Corinthians and in Türkiye, but I've never been as recognized as I am here."
