Returning to Gávea is always a special feeling for former Flamengo players. Even more so for a recent Flamengo idol. This is the case with Fabio Luciano, captain of Flamengo's fifth state title and of Flamengo's run in the 2007 Brazilian Championship, who left his mark on the club's history and is still celebrated by former teammates and fans.

This Wednesday (04.08), the former defender attended the Rubro-Negro training and the presentation of Renato Abreu, Flamengo's new reinforcement for the Brasileirão. The former player said he was happy to be back in the environment where he became a reference and revealed that he is rooting for the team to win the seventh title.

"It's always good to be here. I often visit my former teammates and friends I made here. I really respect this club and its fans, who always show me a lot of affection, and I always like to reciprocate. Flamengo is very important to me, and I will always be a fan," he said.

Furthermore, Fabio praised the signing of Renato and expressed confidence in a strong Flamengo team in the second half of the year.

"Renato is a great player and a great person. He's loved by everyone here, both at the club and by the fans, and I'm sure it will work out," he added.

At 35, Fabio Luciano retired in May 2009, shortly after winning the Rio de Janeiro title. The sheriff played 93 games for the red-and-black team and scored seven goals.
